The heart of Texas…

Trinity was founded in 1872 on land purchased from the New York and Texas Land Company. The town was a railroad station on the Houston and Great Northern Railroad.

The name of the town was originally- Trinity Station, which came from the Trinity River. After some time the name of the town was changed to Trinity City, then to Trinity. It was incorporated in 1910.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.8 square miles (9.8 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 2,721 people, 1,098 households, and 703 families residing in the city.

We are all local patriots, but it’s understandable, isn’t it? We leave you with the lyrics of the song, which we believe is about Trinity- the heart of Texas ( at least for us!)

The stars at night – are big and bright
Deep in the heart of texas.
The prairie sky – is wide and high
Deep in the heart of texas.
The sage in bloom – is like perfume
Deep in the heart of texas.
Reminds me of – the one I love
Deep in the heart of texas.
The cowboys cry – ki-yip-pie-yi
Deep in the heart of texas.
The rabbits rush – around the brush
Deep in the heart of texas.
The coyotes wail – along the trail
Deep in the heart of texas.
The doggies bawl – and bawl and bawl
Deep in the heart of texas.
